Послушайте разговор Дженнифер и Наташи:

Natasha, do you remember? When is my birthday?

-March 19?

-March 9. And I know your birthday is March 18. Right? We talk about my birthday… your birthday. Words like my, your answer the question Whose?

-Who is birthday? (Наташа ошибается; Дженнифер сейчас поправит ее).

-Whose? My birthday. Your birthday. We answer the question Whose? If we talk about a boy or a man, how do we answer the question? My – your – what if it’s a man?  His. His birthday. Like I ask about your son. When is his birthday? If I talk about your daughter… her birthday. Our birthday is in March. We have a birthday in March. So answer the question Whose we don’t say we. We say our. And if I’m talking about two people, your children, I don’t say they, I say their. You have a son and a daughter, and they have a birthday in April. Right? (Чей? Мой день рождения. Твой день рождения. Если мы говорим о мужчине — его день рождения. Наш, их).

-Yes.

-Their birthdays are in April. So to answer the question Whose? we use these words. These words plus a noun. For example, my birthday, my board, my sweater. Your sweater, your jeans. We do this word plus a noun. (Для ответа на вопрос Whose? мы используем эти слова в сочетании с именем существительным). Listen and repeat:

me

your

his

her

our

their.

If I want to ask a question, I can say, “Whose is it?” For example… Let’s talk about the board… Whose is it? It’s my board, or it’s your board. Whose is it? You can also say, “Whose board is it?” Whose marker is it? Whose is it? It’s my marker. It’s your marker.

-Natasha, this is not your room. Right? Okay. This must be your daughter’s room.

-Yes.

-It’s beautiful.

-Thank you.

-Can you show me some things?

-This is her kitchen. Those are her toys.

-How about over here?

-Those are her books.

-This is cute. What’s this?

-That is her doll.

-That is her doll. That is her baby.

-So, now we’re not in your daughter’s room. This is your son’s room.

-Yes.

-Okay. Show me some things. What’s this?

-This is his clock.

-And those?
-Those are his hats.

-And all of these?

-Those are his toys.

-Those are his toys. He has a lot of… What’s this? Goodness. It’s heavy.

-Those are his cars.

-Those are his cars. He has a lot of cars.

-Yes.

-He loves cars? He must love cars.

-So, Natasha, whose room is this?

-This is our room.

-You and her husband have a room.

-Yes.

-Should we go in?

-No.

-You can say, “It’s private.”

-This room is messy… our room is messy (messy — беспорядок).

-Yes. It’s also private. (private — личное).

Давайте обобщим.
