—        Don’t… Name and Don’t…?

—        Yes, you can say, “John, don’t touch.” Okay. So, you’re mother, and you tell your children: do and don’t. So, for example, you tell them, “Come.”

—        Come? Do come?

—        No, not do. Just come. Please, come. And often we say, “Please, come here.” “John, come here.” (Нет, достаточно сказать Come,  не нужно Do come).

—        Aha.

—        And we also say, “Wash.”

—        Wash hands?

—        Wash your hands. Mary, wash your hands. Please, wash your hands. Eat. Please, eat. Eat your vegetables. Go. Go to school. Go to the store. Please, go. Natasha, listen and repeat

Come here. Please, come here.

Wash your hands. Please, wash your hands.

Eat. Please, eat.

Go. Please, go.

So, these are the things we tell our children to do. Let’s talk about what we tell our children not to do. Okay?

—        Okay.

—        Natasha, we talk about DON’T. When you talk to your children, you say, “Don’t touch.” “Don’t run.” (Don’t run. = Go slow. = Walk). And we can say, “Please.” Please, don’t touch. Please, don’t run. Walk. Don’t shout.

Natasha, let’s review (теперь эти фразы будут повторены в коротеньких ситуациях; слушайте их внимательно и также давайте свои ответы).

I’m taking your picture. And I want you to smile. I say, “Natasha, smile.”

My hands are dirty – what can I do?

—        Wash your hands.

—        You tell your children, “Wash your hands.”

—        Please, wash your hands.

—        Your children are… very loud. And you… Don’t…

—        Don’t touch?

—        No.

—        Don’t shout!

—        You want to talk, and your children don’t hear.

—        Listen!

—        Your children are going fast. You say, “Don’t…”

—        Don’t run.

—        Don’t run. Please…

—        Please, walk.

—        Your children are over there. You say, “Please…”

—        Go?

—        Come! Come here.

—        Someone is knocking on the door. You open the door and say, “Hi! Please, come in.” But with your children you say, “Come here.” I see you very nervous.

—        Please, relax.

—        Natasha, please, relax. There’s something hot. Don’t…

—        touch…

—        Don’t touch. Look but don’t touch. When you go to a store, you tell your children, “Look. Don’t touch.”

And finally – go. You tell your children, “Go! Please, go to school!” Good!

And finally – eat. You tell your children at the table, “Eat! Please, eat! Eat your vegetables.”

—        I have a question. I don’t speak English. It’s okay.

—        What people say to you?

—        Aha.

—        Right. You know “relax.” Relax = Don’t worry. You don’t speak English – it’s okay. Don’t worry. So, Relax is the same as Don’t worry.

But you do speak English. A little. So, if someone ask you, “Natasha, do you speak English?”, you say, “A little.”
