В этом уроке, созданном почти 4 года назад, в преддверии Летних Олимпийских игр 2008 года, Дженнифер преследует комплексную цель: развитие навыков аудирования, грамматической правильности и словарного запаса. Уровень сложности – продвинутый.

Олимпийские игры проходят всего лишь каждые 4 года, так что для некоторых людей (и для меня) увидеть такое событие очень важно. Если вам интересно, что привлекает меня в предстоящих летних играх, смотрите внимательно, и вы узнаете это.

Этот урок будет состоять из 3 основных частей.  В центре внимания первой части – словарный запас.В части второй –  навыки аудирования. А в части третьей – грамматические навыки. Первая часть также разделена на две половины.

Давайте начнем с части первой: Словарный запас.

Задание 1: толкование значения.

Выберите правильное толкование. Давайте выполним №1 вместе.

  1. The high jumper failed to get over the bar and knocked it down.

Bar means…

В предложении говорится: knocked it down. Это не может быть человек, так что вариант b/ исключен. Картинка дает нам ключ: a/ является наилучшим вариантом.

Примечание к правильному ответу: как вы, вероятно, заметили, слово memorable входит в ту же группу однокоренных слов, что memoryи memorized.

Задание 2: слова в контексте (в предложении).

Выберите 2 из 3 предложенных слов и вставьте их в предложение. Давайте попробуем вместе.

В первом предложении нам нужно имя существительное, а баскетбольный турнир – это соревнования. Следовательно, мы имеем в виду хозяина соревнований и должны выбрать слово host. Во втором предложении нужен глагол: сотни людей – это еще один ключ, значит, правильное слово crowded.
