—Today is February, twenty-ninth. Here in the United States, you can right February, twenty-nine, but sometimes we use only numbers. So February is the second month. We right 2–29 (twenty-nine). Two thousand twelve. We just right 12. We can use dashes: 2-29-12. We can use slashes: 2/29/12. So if I give 2–29, you know it’s February twenty-ninth. (В США можно написать словами February twenty-nine, но иногда используется полностью цифровая запись. Февраль — второй месяц, получается 2-29. Вместо 2012 года пишем просто 12. Можно писать через дефис: 2-29-12. Можно через слэш: 2/29/12).

What if I give you this date: 3–3? What is that?

-March? March 3^rd

-March 3^rd (third). How about this one: 5–9?

-May… ninth.

-May 9^th (ninth). 7–20?

-July… twentieth.

-Very good. July, twentieth (20^th). So let’s change that. July…?

-July… twenty…

-Aha. So, now, because this is the number first – it’s July, twenty… and then we can use first – twenty-first (21^st). So what if I change this one… 1–31 – what date is this?

-January…thirty-first?

-Very good. Okay. We just change this one… January, 31^st. Okay? And what if I change this one too… Not July 21^st, but July…

-July twenty-eighth (28^th).

-Very good. July 28^th. So we say twenty… eighth.
